Desde a versão alpha, o Opera 9.5 traz diversas melhorias, nomeadamente uma compatibilidade melhorada com certos padrões, como CSS3 e imagens PNG também estão na programação. Fora isso, ele oferece melhorias de renderização de páginas que antes eram incompatíveis.

A versão Mac do Opera oferece uma integração da tecnologia VoiceOver no Mac e a possibilidade de sincronizar os favoritos online no site MyOpera/OperaLink ou ainda uma melhor pesquisa no histórico de navegação.

• UNIX: Fixed a crasher when closing tabs when using the MDI controls (present without close button on tabs)
• UNIX: Tooltip generation CPU usage is again back to normal
• Windows: Torrent applications now show up correctly in the download dialog if you’ve disabled Bittorrent in Opera
